SO WHAT?
That is the big question site stewards, many other volunteers,
and managers are confronted with when introducing activities to
new volunteers, or advocating for and defending management activities.
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County will present a workshop,
March 10, 2007, designed to provide volunteers with skills and
ideas that will help them answer that question. Based on the Chicago
Wilderness “Communicating Biodiversity Workbook for Volunteers,”
and National Association for Interpretation thematic message skills,
we will spend an engaging morning reviewing thematic messages,
tangibles and intangibles, and skills to help get across a memorable
message in a short time.
The workshop will be held at Camp Sagawau, FPDCC, Rte. 83 at
Archer Avenue, Lemont, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10,
2007. Please reserve your space by phoning 773-631-1790 ext. 10,
between 8:30 and 4:30. For more details, call Cheryl McGarry,
Outreach Naturalist at extension 15, or John Elliott, Education
Manager, 708-771-1332.
We will provide snacks and beverages. The workshop is free, participants
will receive a copy of the CW workbook.
