Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards

The Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards have been working year-round since 1989 to return native plant communities to the Poplar Creek Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago.

The restoration site encompasses tallgrass prairie and oak savanna habitats, as well as a virgin gravel hill prairie that has been designated for special protection as an Illinois Nature Preserve.

The Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards are very social; we attract the participation of families, singles of all ages, teens, and seniors. We like to mix fun with our work, and typically go out to lunch after our workdays, as well as hold events like our annual Brrrrush Cutter’s Brunch at the site in early spring.

Our workdays alternate between Saturday and Sunday mornings nearly every weekend during the year. Please visit our website for more information: www.poplarcreekprairiestewards.org.
