Calumet Stewardship Initiative
(Friends of Dan Ryan Woods, Beaubien Woods Stewards, Powderhorn Prairie Volunteers, and more)

We work at a number prairies, woodlands, and wetlands in the Calumet Region on Chicago's south side and in the south suburbs. Calumet volunteers have an especially difficult challenge in restoring extremely high quality sites in the midst of an industrial landscape.

We bring together students from local schools, bike clubs, and adult volunteers to care for these precious sites, home to native Illinois flora and fauna.

No experience necessary! Most of us are lay people learning as we go. So please come out and join us at one of our sites.
